This beach village on Sri Lanka's southern coast, a short distance from the historic city of Galle, with a year-round swimmable beach, coral reefs, and a dense cluster of guesthouses, cafés, and bars for its size. The surrounding area offers scenic viewpoints, and the endangered purple-faced langur — a shy monkey species found only in Sri Lanka's forests — still inhabits the area despite significant recent development. Galle, with its UNESCO-listed fort, lies just a few kilometres away.
