Sri Lanka
Dondra marks the southernmost tip of Sri Lanka, a coastal settlement near Matara where the Dondra Head Lighthouse stands alongside the ruins of ancient Hindu shrines at Tenavaram and a Buddhist temple. One of the country's oldest towns, its history stretches back to at least the 7th century AD and the reign of King Dappula II. The wider region sits near a UNESCO World Heritage site.
