Beach town on Sri Lanka's southwest coast, Hikkaduwa stretches along the Indian Ocean across several distinct areas, from a busy tourist hub to quieter residential and upmarket beach strips. Part of the shoreline falls within Hikkaduwa National Park, a Marine National Park. The city of Galle lies a short drive to the south, and the wider region sits near UNESCO World Heritage sites. The town has a well-developed café and restaurant scene for its size.
