Chalabre
Aude · France
A compact bastide village in the Aude, Chalabre sits alongside the rivers that drain the Quercorb region and serves as the area's historic capital. The 14th-century cloth trade once drove the local economy, and two protected monuments survive from that era: the church of Saint-Pierre, listed in 1907, and the town hall, listed in 1948. The road through the village leads to Lac de Montbel, and the wider area includes a Natura 2000 conservation zone.
