Mont-Louis
Pyrénées-Orientales · France
A tiny fortified village in the Pyrénées-Orientales, Mont-Louis has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2008 as one of twelve Vauban fortifications recognised across France. Set in the Conflent country of the Catalan Pyrenees and drained by the Têt river, it sits within the Parc naturel régional des Pyrénées catalanes, with mountain scenery on all sides. Despite its compact size, it supports a handful of cafés and restaurants and several historic churches.
