Font-Romeu, one of the oldest ski resorts in France and the oldest in the Pyrenees, anchors this small commune in the Pyrénées-Orientales near the Spanish border. The wider area of Font-Romeu-Odeillo-Via sits within the Cerdagne, a high Pyrenean plain, and falls inside the Parc naturel régional des Pyrénées catalanes, with a Natura 2000 site among its natural designations. Several UNESCO World Heritage sites lie within the broader region.
