This small town in northeastern Lithuania set among four named lakes — Zarasas, Zarasaitis, Baltas, and Griežtas — with a café and restaurant scene in its compact centre and water sports facilities on the water's edge. Summer brings music festivals including Mėnuo Juodaragis and Roko naktys. The town holds a 19th-century Catholic church, an Orthodox church, and the surviving building of a synagogue that stood until 1941, alongside a regional museum and the directorate of Gražutė Regional Park.
