Vorbasse
Denmark
Vorbasse, a tiny village in southern Jutland, is home to Denmark's largest market, running annually since 1730 and drawing around a quarter of a million visitors each year. The village also has an archaeological profile: large-scale excavations northeast of the modern settlement uncovered a farm community occupied continuously from the 1st century BC to the 11th century AD. A village pond once hosted the bridge of a former Russian submarine and still launches the model warship Labri ceremonially each Easter.
