This small town in western Lithuania's Klaipėda region, Šilutė sits on the Šyša river — which has a compact-boat harbour — close to the Curonian Lagoon and the Nemunas Delta Regional Park. The town centre holds a Lutheran church with the largest clock face in Lithuania, a small café and restaurant scene, and the Hugo Scheu manor house, now a museum. The wider region includes the Curonian Spit, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
