Birthplace of jazz pianist Bebo Valdés and Roldán González, founder of the hip-hop group Orishas, this pocket-sized Cuban town in Mayabeque Province has an outsized musical legacy for its size. Founded in 1700, it ranks among the twenty oldest towns in Cuba, and its Taino-derived name points to a pre-colonial past. The town sits on the Gulf of Batabanó in the southwest of the province, formerly part of Havana Province until 2010.
