Mariel
Cuba
This Cuban port town in Artemisa Province, a short drive west of Havana, lends its name to actress Mariel Hemingway — her grandfather, Ernest Hemingway, was a regular in the area's fishing waters. The town sits on a bay and gives its name to both the harbour and the surrounding municipality, with UNESCO World Heritage sites in the wider region.
