Melena del Sur
Cuba
Pocket-sized Cuban municipality in Mayabeque Province, Melena del Sur sits on the Gulf of Batabanó, where Mayabeque Beach marks the mouth of the Mayabeque River — one of the country's most voluminous waterways. The wider region is ringed by UNESCO World Heritage sites. The municipality's five wards reflect a history shaped by sugar production, with a former mill at Mañalich once processing cane from across the region for export.
