Walled medieval village in the French Pyrenees, Prats-de-Mollo-la-Preste sits on the Tech river close to the Spanish border and belongs to the Les Plus Beaux Villages de France association. Its cobblestone old town, enclosed by ramparts, is dominated by Fort Lagarde, built by Vauban in the 17th century to control the frontier established by the 1659 Treaty of the Pyrenees. The municipality also includes La Preste, a spa resort. Four Natura 2000 sites and a national nature reserve surround the commune.
