A high-elevation village in the heart of Peneda-Gerês National Park, Pitões das Júnias sits at around 1,200 metres in one of Portugal's highest parishes, within the Montalegre municipality of Vila Real. The surrounding national park landscape combines mountain terrain with water, making it a base for those drawn to remote highland scenery in northern Portugal.
