Designated a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy in 2012, Jeonju is a large South Korean city with over 1,300 years of history and one of the country's most celebrated food cultures. The Jeonju Hanok Village, Gyeonggijeon shrine, and the historic Pungnammun gate anchor a centre dense with traditional architecture, while the surrounding mountain country offers scenic viewpoints close to the city. UNESCO World Heritage sites lie within the wider region.
