Nonsan

South Korea

South Korea's largest strawberry-producing city, Nonsan in South Chungcheong Province also draws visitors for the Goryeo-era Gwanchoksa temple, which houses a massive standing stone Maitreya Bodhisattva, and for Ganggyeong, a historic salted-fish market district on the Geum River. Topjeong Lake sits at the city's centre, and Daedunsan Provincial Park offers rocky mountain trails nearby. Confucian heritage sites from the Joseon period, including Donam Seowon academy, add further depth to the area's historical record.
