Bentota
Sri Lanka
This coastal town on Sri Lanka's southern shore, Bentota sits at the mouth of the Bentota River and draws visitors for watersports, Ayurvedic treatments, and a cluster of well-regarded hotels. The town is also known for toddy, a local alcoholic drink made from coconut nectar, and a turtle hatchery operates nearby at Induruwa beach. Five ancient Buddhist temples surround the town, and a local airport serves the area.
