Vilkaviškis
Lithuania
A small town in southwestern Lithuania where the Šeimena and Vilkauja rivers meet, Vilkaviškis has a modest central core with cafés and restaurants alongside an 1881 cathedral dedicated to the Visitation of the Virgin Mary. The town holds a regional museum and is known as the origin of the 2016 Cauliflower Revolution, a cost-of-living protest that drew national attention. Its Jewish community, once a significant part of local life, was destroyed during the German occupation in 1941.
