A café- and restaurant-dense town in Portugal's Vinho Verde wine country, Vila Nova de Famalicão sits at the southern edge of the Minho province and is home to the house-museum of the writer Camilo Castelo Branco, part of a network of thirteen museums that also includes the Portuguese Centre of Surrealism, the National Railway Museum at Lousado, and the Textile Industry Museum of the Ave Basin. Braga and Guimarães are close neighbours, and the wider region holds several UNESCO World Heritage sites.
