Small Lithuanian town on Lake Vievis, between Vilnius and Kaunas in the Dzūkija ethnographic region, with two museums of some specificity: the Lithuanian Geology Museum, which includes a memorial exhibition dedicated to geologist J. Dalinkevičius, and the Lithuanian Road Museum, opened in 1995 to mark the 25th anniversary of the Vilnius–Kaunas highway. The town also has a 1931 Catholic church and two Orthodox religious buildings dating from 1843 and 1936.
