Vers-Pont-du-Gard

The Pont du Gard, the Roman aqueduct bridge that ranks among the best-preserved ancient structures in Europe, stands on the territory of this small village in the Gard department of southern France. The Gardon river runs through the commune, set within the gorges du Gardon, and the surrounding area includes several protected natural sites.
