A walkable town at the foot of the Pyrenees in southwestern France, Tarbes has a dense food-and-drink scene in its centre, a concentration of historic churches, and mountain views visible from the streets. Known for the Tarbais bean and other regional specialties, it serves as a market hub for the surrounding area and a base for exploring the foothills and peaks of the central Pyrenees. The town also has a long industrial tradition, now focused on aeronautics and high-tech sectors.
