This small Pyrenean hamlet in the Hautes-Pyrénées is the gateway to the Cirque de Gavarnie, a massive glacial cirque and UNESCO World Heritage Site that also contains the Gavarnie Falls. The village supports a surprisingly dense café and restaurant scene for its size, and serves as a base for hiking, mountaineering, and skiing. The Prime Meridian passes through Gavarnie, which also marks the southernmost point in France where it touches the border with Aragon, Spain.
