San Salvador el Verde, a little town in the central-western part of Mexico's Puebla state, is home to the Chautla Hacienda — once the property of Eulogio Gillow, the first archbishop of Oaxaca. The hacienda's English-style residence, known locally as El Castillo, now operates as a recreation centre. The wider region is ringed by UNESCO World Heritage sites.
