Atlixco
Atlixco · Mexico
Flower production defines Atlixco, a city in the Mexican state of Puebla known informally as "the city of flowers," where ornamental plants and cut flowers are grown commercially and decorate houses throughout the area. Each September, the hillside plaza of Cerro de San Miguel hosts the Huey Atlixcayotl, a large festival drawing cultural representatives from across Puebla's eleven regions for music, dance, and performance. The city also carries the honorary title "Heroica" for its role in the battle of 4 May 1862, the day before the famous Battle of Puebla.
