A pocket-sized town in the Hérault department of southern France's Occitanie region, Pignan sits in Mediterranean wine country with a central core of cafés and restaurants. The surrounding landscape includes three Natura 2000 protected areas — the Moure mountain and Causse d'Aumelas plateau, the Fabrègues-Poussan plain, and the Moure and Aumelas garrigue — and the town falls within the wider orbit of Montpellier.
