This lakeside town in southern Chile's Valdivia Province, Panguipulli sits on the western shore of the lake that shares its name — a Mapudungun word meaning "hill of the puma." The compact centre has a concentration of cafés and restaurants, while the surrounding commune stretches into Andean mountains and valleys, with national parks and nature reserves a short drive away.
