Lithuania's busiest summer resort sits on the Baltic Sea coast, backed by sand dunes and fronted by a wide sandy beach stretching for many kilometres. The town's economy runs almost entirely on tourism, and its walkable centre fills with a dense food-and-drink scene in the warmer months. Part of the broader Samogitia region, Palanga also serves as a gateway to a string of smaller coastal resorts running north toward the Latvian border.
