This coastal Swedish town on the Baltic Sea with a walkable centre full of cafés and restaurants, Nyköping sits where two rivers meet the Stadsfjärden inlet, giving it a strong waterfront character. The town has been recorded by name since 1230, and its two central churches — Sankt Nicolai and Alla Helgona — both date to the 13th century. Stockholm Skavsta Airport sits just outside town, making Nyköping a practical first stop for visitors arriving in the region.
