A tiny Swedish town in Södermanland, Gnesta sits on the water between Södertälje and Nyköping, with Stockholm commuter rail running directly here. The town served as the filming location for the 2009 adaptation of Stieg Larsson's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, standing in for the fictional Hedestad and Hedeby Island. Stockholm is reachable by commuter train, making Gnesta a practical base for exploring the wider region.
