Mopsuestia

An ancient city in Cilicia Campestris on the Ceyhan River (the classical Pyramus), Mopsuestia — now called Yakapınar — sits on what was once a Silk Road route east of Adana in southern Turkey. Its river harbor once gave access to the Mediterranean, and a bridge over the Ceyhan carries a local legend that the physician Lokman Hekim lost his recipe for an elixir of immortality to the wind here, earning the settlement the epithet "city of immortality."
