Joane

Portugal

Joane, a small town in the Vila Nova de Famalicão municipality of northern Portugal, is the birthplace of Bernardino Machado, who served twice as President of Portugal during the First Republic. Set in the wine country of the Minho region, the town has a café and restaurant scene and a concentration of historic churches that exceed what its size might suggest.
