Hengchun
Taiwan
Gateway to Kenting National Park at Taiwan's southern tip, Hengchun is a small town with a walkable centre and a lively food-and-drink scene. About half of a historic city wall still stands, along with four original gates, dating from a fortification ordered by the Qing court after the 1874 Mudan Incident. The town is also the setting for Cape No. 7, the 2008 Taiwanese film that became the highest-grossing film in Taiwan's history.
