Gorjuše
Slovenia
A high-elevation hamlet on the Pokljuka Plateau in Slovenia's Municipality of Bohinj, Gorjuše sits on sun-facing terraces between roughly 900 and 1,100 metres and ranks among the highest-lying settlements in the country. The three disconnected parts — lower, middle, and upper — developed on former alpine pastures. The area has a centuries-old tradition of pipe-making, with carved pieces once sold across central Europe and Dalmatia; today only a handful of residents still practise the craft.
