Vipava
Slovenia
This modest wine-country town in western Slovenia's Vipava Valley, built along the numerous springs of the Vipava River — said to be the only river in Europe with a delta-like source. The abundance of springs prompted residents to build 25 bridges across the water, earning the town a local nickname of the "Slovenian Venice." A handful of cafés and restaurants serve the valley, which sits within mountain country and is well placed for scenic viewpoints.
