Small mountain village in northwestern Slovenia's Bohinj valley, Bohinjska Bistrica sits alongside the Sava Bohinjka river and serves as the main base for excursions into the surrounding peaks — including Črna prst, Vogel, and Komna. The village is also the starting point of the Bohinj railway tunnel, which links the Gorenjska and Primorska regions, and has a ski centre at Kobla. A modest but real café and restaurant scene makes it a practical stop in this UNESCO-ringed corner of the Julian Alps.
