This small wine-country village in the Roussillon region of southern France, set in the Agly river basin between the Corbières hills and the Pyrenean massifs. Estagel sits at the boundary between Catalan- and Occitan-speaking territory — it is considered the last Catalan-speaking town to the northwest of the Catalan Countries. The surrounding landscape includes a Natura 2000 protected area and several rivers and streams draining through the commune.
