A city in the eastern Netherlands with a dense café and restaurant scene, Enschede sits on the German border in the Twente region and was once a major textile industry hub. Granted city rights in 1325, it is home to the University of Twente, FC Twente football club, and the last Polaroid film factory. It was also designated the greenest city in the Netherlands in 2003.
