Eilenburg
Nordsachsen · Germany
Sitting on the River Mulde in Saxony, Eilenburg is a town northeast of Leipzig with riverside scenery and access to the Dübener Heide heath on its doorstep. Its castle hill, first recorded in 961, is considered the cradle of the Saxon territorial state, and the town later became the site of Germany's first consumer cooperative, founded in 1849. Today it serves as a stop on national and international tourism routes.
