Germany Anhalt-Bitterfeld

Bitterfeld-Wolfen

Anhalt-Bitterfeld · Germany

This town in Saxony-Anhalt formed in 2007 from the merger of Bitterfeld and Wolfen, sitting alongside the Goitzsche — a nature reserve with a large lake — and the Muldestausee reservoir to the east. Long a centre of the chemical industry, the town has a compact centre with cafés and restaurants, and the surrounding lakes offer waterside access and open scenery within easy reach of Halle and Leipzig.
