Collonges-la-Rouge
Corrèze · France
Red sandstone gives this tiny Corrèze hamlet its name and its look: Collonges-la-Rouge is built almost entirely from the deep-red stone, earning it a place in the Les Plus Beaux Villages de France association. A large share of its land carries heritage protection as a classified historic monument. A short drive south-east of Brive-la-Gaillarde, it sits on the edge of the Limousin plateaus, facing the Quercy, with a handful of cafés and restaurants for a settlement of its size.
