Civita
Cosenza · Italy
Founded in the 15th century by Albanian refugees fleeing the Ottoman invasion, Civita is a hill village in Calabria's Pollino National Park whose Albanian-origin community — the Arbëreshë — still maintains its ancestral language, religious rites, and traditional customs. Set within the Raganello Gorge nature reserve with views toward the Ionian Sea, the village is listed among I Borghi più belli d'Italia and offers a compact but real café and restaurant scene for its size.
