Başakşehir is a large district on the European side of Istanbul, known as a hub for the city's middle- and upper-class conservative population. Home to Ibn Haldun University, the Atatürk Olympic Stadium, and Başakşehir Fatih Terim Stadium — the ground of Süper Lig club İstanbul Başakşehir F.K. — the district also includes Bahçeşehir, one of Turkey's earliest planned suburban developments. A high proportion of Arabic, Russian, French, and English speakers reflects significant migration from the Middle East, Africa, and Central Asia.
