Banos de Agua Santa
Ecuador
Sitting between the Pastaza river and the flanks of Tungurahua volcano in Ecuador's Andean highlands, Baños de Agua Santa is one of the country's most visited inland destinations, with a café and restaurant scene well beyond what its size would suggest, scenic viewpoints across the surrounding river valleys, and a mild tropical climate year-round. Known locally as "the Gateway to El Dorado" and "City of the Volcano," it sits at the edge of the eastern Andes where the highlands drop toward the Amazon basin.
