Known since the 17th century as "the city of villas," Bagheria is a Sicilian town east of Palermo where the nobility built their Baroque and Rococo holiday estates. The historic centre holds a concentration of churches alongside a lively food-and-drink scene. The small coastal district of Aspra is within walking distance, and the wider Palermo region is ringed by UNESCO World Heritage sites.
