Castellammare del Golfo
Trapani · Italy
A seafront town in Sicily's Trapani province, Castellammare del Golfo takes its name from the medieval fortress in its harbour — "Sea Fortress on the Gulf" — and gives its name to the gulf beyond. The marina, Cala Marina, is lined with restaurants and bars, and the town climbs from there through stepped streets and winding lanes toward a centre dense with cafés and shops. It sits at the foot of the Monte Inici massif and borders the Zingaro Nature Reserve, with the rock stacks of Scopello and the Segestane thermal baths also within its territory.
