This small hamlet in the Ariège department of south-western France, Arrien-en-Bethmale sits within the Parc naturel régional des Pyrénées ariégeoises, drained by several streams and close to the Pyrenean mountains. The Couserans region it belongs to has Gascon roots and is structured around the Salat river. A Natura 2000 protected area, the Mont Valier massif, lies within its territory, alongside three natural zones of ecological interest.
