Anarrachi
Γρεβενά, Κοζάνη · Greece
Highland village in the Kozani regional unit of northern Greece, Anarrachi sits above ruins of two Byzantine-era castles — once connected by an underground passage — whose remains are still visible at the sites known as Kastri and Koula. Byzantine coins from the Komnenian period have been found in the area, and the ruins of a Byzantine church survive at a site called Frourio. Residents took part in the Greek Revolution of 1821, and the village later received refugees from Asia Minor, Pontus, and Thrace after the 1922 population exchange.
