Ahja

Estonia

This small borough in southeastern Estonia is the birthplace of Friedebert Tuglas, one of Estonia's most significant prose writers, and houses a museum dedicated to him. The village also holds the ruins of Ahja Manor and its cemetery, a library, a cultural centre, and a youth centre. It sits close to the Ahja River, which gives the borough its name.
