A modest settlement on the north-western shore of Bantry Bay on Ireland's Beara Peninsula, Adrigole sits between mountain terrain and open water, with Hungry Hill — the highest peak of the Caha range — rising directly above it. The hill, which has two rock-girt lakes feeding a cascade, gave its name to Daphne du Maurier's novel about the area's 19th-century copper-mining barons. The nearby Healy Pass adds another point of access into the surrounding uplands.
